Leslie Tamura

Chicago, Illinois, United States

In my previous life -- the one I had before medical school -- I was a health and science reporter for The Washington Post.

I asked a lot of questions: What do you know? Why should I care?

Now, I'm a first-year intern (i.e., doctor). And while I don't explore my "beat" as much as I'd like, not much has changed since I traded my reporter's notebook for my iPhone with the ePocrates app.

The subject matter is more complex, but the questions remain: What is the story? Why does it matter -- to the patient?

I grew up in Fresno, Calif. and studied English at Wellesley College. Since then, I have pursued my interests in medicine, writing, and people.
