Lethabo Mamabolo
Student in Johannesburg
Many students come from homes where emotional or mental support is not present and that results in consequences such as substance abuse, failure to thrive, depression, low self-esteem, and a host of many other emotional disorders. As an educator that highly values critical and creative thinking, the focus in my classroom is not to solely develop my student's critical thinking skills but to move beyond that. I strongly believe that in order for a learner to yield excellent results, they should be in the right state of mind, without that, performance is hindered. As an educator, I thrive to create a healthy classroom environment that recognises the emotional and mental needs of my students. I want to offer more than just teaching to my learners, in areas where I am capable. I want my students to feel heard, seen, and included. The goal is to build an inclusive community within my classroom. I want to be the reason my students believe in their abilities and believe they can do anything they put their minds to regardless of their circumstances. My goal is to build each and one of my students to be a powerhouse. Hi, my name is Lethabo Maria Mamabolo, I am a third-year student at the University of Johannesburg.
