Santa Cruz

I have two brothers and one older sister. I am a Vietnamese American. In high school, I was active in my studies as well as extra curricular activities. I was in student counsel for all four years of high school. Each year, I took on a greater role to promote healthy safe fun activities at school. I went from being a member the first year, then treasurer the next, then vice president the following year. Then my senior year, my parents decided to move back to San Jose. I was President and General of the Go Green Recycling Program that I had started during my senior year of high school at Mt. Pleasant High because there was no recycling program there. I won two awards and a college scholarship because of the recycling program.

I joined the Vietnamese Student Association during my freshmen year of college. Being much deprived of my Vietnamese roots due to the limited exposure around Vietnamese people, I was excited to be a part of an organization on campus. I became San Jose State Vietnamese Student Association Community Service Chair after my first year and had coordinated many successful volunteering events such as health fairs, fundraising events, and hepatitis B events. Currently I am the new President at VSA @ SJSU because I know I can learn from the alumni and take their wise advice to build positive changes in VSA.
