Levi Cranston

Hi, my name is Levi Cranston! I am an aspiring filmmaker and I dream of having my film shown on the big screen. I finished my first short film for university recently, titled Mourning Reflection, to much acclaim from my peers and teachers (I directed, produced, wrote, edited and graded). Last year I wrote, directed, shot and edited a 30 second commercial (above) that was selected into the Top 10, only to be trumped by a popularity contest. I was also a Top 10 finalist in an international film competition for Penny Skateboards... to be beaten by another popularity contest!

I have produced videos for Sunshine Coast Destinations Ltd., Colliers International, a modelling agency (Bandit Kids) and worked with production companies such as The Video Guy, Sound Images and Raw Lens Media. All of the above have been such wonderful people to work with and I am glad to say that the work I produced was well above satisfaction (and I can call them my friends)!

However, movies on the big silver screen is my passion. At this exact moment I am working on scripts for a short movie to nudge my way into the short film festival circuit: a wedge in the big cinemas door! I am heavily inspired by current directors such as: Paul Thomas Anderson, Darren Aronofsky (Requiem For A Dream is my favourite movie), David Fincher, Christopher Nolan, Michael Haneke, Luc Besson, Quentin Tarantinoect. and of course ALL the old masters (Kubrick, Welles, Kieslowski, Goddard, Bergmam, Tarkovsky, Scorsese, Kurosawa, Hitchcock ect.!)

I am currently studying a Bachelor Of Film as a scholarship student at SAE Qantm Institute, which enables me to be around teachers such as Stephen Lance (My Mistress)and Mairi Cameron (Ellipsis) who themselves are seasoned directors and are able to guide me in the right path to bursting into this industry! Also broadening my knowledge with priceless information are teachers such as Haley Stibbard (Editor: Silverchair, Powderfinger music videos) and Peter Baker(Director of photography)whom are also involved in the industry.
