Hello! Thanks for visiting!
I'm Rabbi Levi Margolin. I'm the Executive Director of Mayanot Israel, the branch of the Mayanot Institute of Jewish Studies offering our trademark Birthright Israel trips.
I was born and raised in Norfolk, VA and called both Brooklyn and Montreal home before moving to Jerusalem in August 2012 when I began my career at Mayanot as the Social Media Coordinator. I quickly climbed the ladder, becoming the Director of Marketing in 2014.
After a short break from Mayanot to focus on career development, traveling the world and family life, I returned to Mayanot in August of 2018 and became the Director of the program in June of 2019.
My love for Mayanot and Birthright began in 2002 when I was a Birthright participant on a Mayanot trip, and was rekindled in 2010 when I led my first group of youngsters through the Holy Land.
In the 2.5 years that followed, I was back in Israel as a Birthright leader with Mayanot eight times. In June of 2012, again on Birthright, I met my later-to-become wife, Aidel. I spent the next three and a half years trying to swoop her off her feet. We finally married in June of 2016, four years after we met.
I was educated in Rabbinical Seminaries in Montreal and Brooklyn and have served as guest Rabbi in 11 States and 14 countries on five continents during my rabbinical career. From 2010-2012, I served as the Assistant Rabbi at Chabad of McGil University.
Standing at five-feet, I have been described by those who know me best as “Short and Sweet.” I love Judaism, sports, politics and world travel. I miss the New York Yankees, American Hotdogs and my family the most, since moving to Israel. Yes. In that order!
