The world’s beauty and majesty is beyond anything I could ever imagine. Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamed of traveling the world. Traveling is not restricted to any age or type of person. It is a lifelong journey of discovery and adventure. My roots will always remain in Athens, Georgia, but my home may change throughout my life. I gratefully accept every opportunity to explore a new area of the world. I have traveled across the United States to the western coasts of California and north to the big city lights of New York City. Even in the same country, there are vast differences from the city to the countryside. In traveling to historical towns, such as Washington D.C., Williamsburg, and Boston, I discovered not only the history of my nation, but also the background of my Cherokee and Irish ancestry. You do not have to fly in order to travel to new places.

My journeys are not restricted to my homeland. My favorite type of travel goes beyond borderlines. My eyes have seen the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean off the coast of Mexico and Belize. The food and water were not as reliable, and the wildlife was more exotic. Most recently, Puerto Rico introduced me to a culture and language that I was not accustomed to. The Spanish language made communication more difficult, but successful communication was rewarding and exciting. The people radiated joy. Everyone was kind and willing to share his or her mangos and plantains even in the midst of poor living conditions. I was humbled. I learned that I had nothing to complain about but everything to be thankful for. I have only experienced nineteen years of discovering the world around me. I have yet to reach the Eastern Hemisphere. My dream is to travel and explore and discover the world until my last days.
