Hello, I’m Luis Guillermo, a mechanical engineer interested in understanding complex systems and using engineering, data, modeling and simulation to explore some of the technical challenges behind the climate crisis.

My work has gradually moved from understanding machines and technical systems to a broader question: how can engineering help us understand and respond more effectively to the climate crisis?

Over the years, I have worked on emissions, transport, energy, climate strategies, technology assessment and international climate processes. What interests me most is the space between ambition and implementation: understanding how systems behave, why some solutions work while others fail, and what conditions are needed to turn climate goals into measurable results.

I am particularly interested in energy and climate systems, emissions, data analysis, modeling and simulation, and in using these tools to explore complex interactions, test assumptions and support better technical decisions.

I also enjoy building things outside work. Music, swimming, books, illustration, electronics and personal projects are part of how I stay curious.
