An aspiring Sprint, Marathon & Surf Ski Kayak athlete ππΌββοΈ living in Adelaide, Australia.π¦
Interests: fitness, sports. football, gaming, & movies.
I was identified through the SASI TID program in SA, 2015 πββοΈ, there were over 7000 people tested that yr & it made the nightly news. π₯
I was really excited at the idea of being a athlete, but not Kayaking,( I was really afraid π° of the water & I couldn't swim).
I was invited back for more testing, & thought I had a chance at being selected. I was hoping like crazy π€ͺ that it was cycling. My mum, couldn't to go with me to for support because sick π€ & had an operation. I told her, " NO WAY I was doing Kayaking, even if I was selected". But I will never forget what she said to me that day:
"Liam, what if your greatest success, lies behind your greatest fear?".
That was really challenging to me! (guess what i was selected for) π.
I saw the "Patriot" at the info night, (Adam Van Koeverden - journey 2012 Olympics), πΊ I knew I wanted to take this sport as far as I possibly could go & represent my country at a world level. π
I signed up that night & started training the next day (with a life jacket!) at West Lakes Canoe Club.
I train twice a day βοΈ π§βοΈ, every day since joining (except Sunday, thats my rest day), & I have joined Grange Surf Life Saving Club π(Surf Skis), & paddle with a really great coach and crew at Holdfast Bay Canoe Club for long distances. β±
My strength & conditioning coach, AndyποΈββοΈ, has trained me for 2 yrs. He's not just my coach, but mentor & friend π.
This journey is not just about me, its about people seeing that fear doesn't have to hold you back from trying &about connecting with other people & the part you play in their journey.
Winning gold π₯at marathon nationals (with my K2 partner), gained me selection to represent Australia π¦πΊ as a Jnr in the K2 event, at ICF Marathon World Cup 2018, Portugal βοΈ.
I am part of a team, & I don't want to let anyone down.
Without supporters like youβ, I wonβt have the chance to thrive, grow π±& compete βοΈ & be successful as I can be!
Every donation counts, no matter how small! π
Thank you for your ongoing support & loyalty.πππ
