She is the author of two best-selling novels, Helen of Pasadena, which was nominated for Best Fiction by the Southern California Independent Booksellers, and her latest book, Elizabeth the First Wife ( Prospect Park Books, May 2013). She also co-authored Satellite Sisters UnCommon Senses, a bestselling book of essays. (Penguin, 2001) . Helen of Pasadena was nominated for Best Fiction by SCIBA and developed for TV by Walt Becker Productions. Lian is now adapting Elizabeth the First Wife for film.
In addition, she has written extensively for a variety of media, including a television pilot for Nick at Night and monthly columns for O, the Oprah Magazine and Working Mother Magazine. She now writes a humor column for Pasadena Magazine called Very Pasadena.
Her broadcast career includes creating and hosting the nationally syndicated radio show Satellite Sisters, winner of nine Gracie Allen Awards for Excellence in Women’s Media and the popular podcast The Chaos Chronicles. Satellite Sisters is now a top-rated show on iTunes for women and has a broad social network. On her podcasts, Lian covers a wide arrey of topics of interest to women, moms and humans. She is also an adept interviewer, speaking with guests like Bill Clinton, Maya Angelou and Nora Ephron.
Lian is alos an in-demand speaker for coroporations, organizations and conferences. She has spoken to hundres of groups in her warm humorous style. She has been a featured panelist at BlogHer, the LA Times Festival of Books and New Media Expo. She spoken across the country to Junior League Organizations and she worked with corporations like General Mills.
Lian graduated from Pomona College with a degree in Classics. She is married and lives in Pasadena, California with her husband and two sons.
