The Off-White Dog

My name is Libbie Stone and I have one dog whom I love dearly. This dog is part of the Bichon Frise breed. His formal name is John Rascal Stone, however he goes by Rascal or Ra-Ra. I got my dog when I was 5 years old, which makes him 13 years old now. He is supposed to be a white dog but seeing as though we have a backyard that he uses as his restroom or time to absorb the sun rays, the white fur generally maintains an off white color. This dog sleeps with me every night, follows me around the house, cleans up after I spill my food, or finishes my cereal bowls in the morning when I am full. I guess you could say we are best friends and inseparable. When I am on vacations, he sits by my door patiently awaiting my return so that he can sleep in my bed again. I would like to say that my family takes him on daily walks, but that seems to be more difficult as we age due to the increase in after school activities or social events. My friends find his greetings when they walk through the door overwhelming, but I find the yapping somewhat comforting. When they shove him off my bed during social times, I pick him right back up and remind him that he is loved. Over time my friends have began to love him more and accept his flaws and imperfections. My bond with my dog is unlike any other, and I wouldn’t trade him for the world.
