Liberty Run Foundation

Newport News, Va

The Liberty Run Foundation (LRF) is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization focused on the needs of injured veterans and their families. The foundation started out when a group of Marines joined forces to complete a relay run to support the Statue of Liberty restoration project during the mid-1980s. LRF’s CEO Dave English is a former active duty Marine, who served as a Beirut Lebanon veteran with the Multinational Peacekeeping Force. The foundation has maintained its health-oriented roots by organizing fund raising events that include, Liberty Lightning 9K, the Chrome and Fire motorcycle benefit ride, Fairway Brigade Golf Tournament, and many more, to support their mission

LRF has maintained a focus on activities that promote health and well-being for recovering veterans. Today, the organization provides a range of family activities that encourage veterans and their loved ones to experience the natural outdoors. In addition, the foundation offers professional guided trips, such as hunting and fishing expeditions, for veterans. With these and other activities, LRF provides a vital support network, which is essential for all recovering veterans.

In addition to its health-centric programs, Liberty Run Foundation supports community-based efforts to eliminate veteran homelessness. To support at-risk veterans, the foundation collects essential items, such as clothing, comfort items, and toiletries. To learn more about the foundation and its activities, visit LibertyRun.org.
