Lilita Kakaza

Teacher in Johannesburg, Gauteng

Howdy! I am Lilita Kakaza, and I am a final-year Bachelor of Education student at the University of Johannesburg, specialising in Geography and Life Sciences. I am a passionate pre-service teacher who believes that education is a powerful tool for transformation not only for learners, but for society as a whole. I am a creative and reflective individual who enjoys photography, music, and reading. One of my favourite books is “The Power of One” by Bryce Courtenay, which inspires me to believe in resilience and the impact of one person’s determination to make a difference.

My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that education should empower learners to think critically, ask questions, and connect classroom knowledge to real-world issues. My teaching philosophy is influenced by B.F. Skinner’s behaviourist theory, which highlights the importance of positive reinforcement and creating a supportive learning environment that motivates learners to achieve their best.

Beyond academics, I am deeply inspired by the values of Ubuntu, collaboration, and continuous growth. I believe that teaching is not just about imparting knowledge, but also about nurturing empathy, curiosity, and confidence in learners.
