Hey, I'm Sarah Pohl. I studied biology, then worked in online marketing for a year and a half, before I did a PhD in bioinformatics. I enjoy programming in Python and in R for data analysis in my own projects and to assist others. On my tumblr, I've also compared data analysis methods in Python vs. R.

I'm working as a Postdoc at the Twincore in Hannover, Germany, and partly at the HZI in Braunschweig, both in the group "Molecular Bacteriology" of Susanne Häußler. There, I'm responsible for the BACTOME database and doing data analysis for various projects.

Since 2022, I'm also an Instructor and a Maintainer at The Carpentries. I know how important coding and data science skills are in research and I love being able to help others learn these skills.
