Music to me means communicating in countless and fascinating ways. It is my passion to open doors for others to play music, to achieve a clearer understanding of the underlying basics and principles, and to build a personal repertoire.
I started self-taught on the electric bass, studied classical double bass in Berlin with Klaus Stoll. I also plays six string acoustic fretless bass guitar. I uses various 5th tunings on my basses. I am at home in classical music, afro-caribbean, jazz, turkish and related, flamenco, new klezmer. I am a soloist and as a sideman integral part of Berlin and the German jazz scene. From 1995 to 2005 I was teaching at the Berlin Hans Eisler jazz department. From 2003-2010 I was bandleader at the show Pompduck & Circumstance. Since 2010 I am part of the Global Music Academy, teaching and performing in Germany, and also frequently in Africa.
