Some of the most exhilarating times of my life have been on the football field. Performing under those stadium lights with the sound of 250 musicians blaring their tune, is a feeling that is almost impossible to match. I have devoted most of my free time to being apart of the colorguard at my highschool, which is the flags and dancers part of the halftime show, and now, in college, I am hoping to carry that dedication to the UGA Flagline. I love to spin, and I was happy when I got to continue with that passion beyond highschool. I started doing colorguard the summer of my sixth grade year. I followed my older sister, an alumna of UGA and the UGA Flagline, to auditions, and somehow convinced the coach to let me spin with all the other high school girls that fall. I knew immediately after that first game that this was what I wanted to do. Being able to convey a story through the composition of dancing and spinning has always a rad concept to me, and I'm so grateful to the colorguard coach who let me spin that season. Since then, I have been a consistent member of the colorguard and wintergaurd, respectively, at my highschool, and plan to continue my spinning career further into college. Colorguard has forged so many awesome relationships for me, and has made me realize the importance of the arts. I find comfort in being able to express myself through spinning, and am super happy that I tagged along that fateful day.
