Lim Li-Ling

Lim Li-Ling is a Malaysian photographer fascinated with culture and traditions. Embracing the philosophy of “less is more”, she captures photos beyond literal examination and provokes viewers to discover the underlying stories.

She is a recipient of the 2012 Kristen Jit Astro Fund for development of multimedia documentary on "Wayang”. She won 3rd Prize Portrait in the 2013 KL International Photo Award for a portrait from “Wayang”.

On-going Project
Li-Ling have been documenting Chinese opera since 2007 and is working on “Wayang” documenting the Sio Kee Lin Hokkien opera troupe.

Sio Kee Lin is Singapore oldest Hokkien opera troupe. They perform mostly in Malaysia. Wayang is a documentary of their final years in Malaysia before the troupe disbanded.
