Ondo State Asphalt Company (OSAC) was established in 1991 as a vehicle for road construction, rehabilitation and maintenance in Ondo State. The Agency's capacity to perform its mandate is helped by its investment in an array of assets which include an Asphalt Plant and Stone Crushing Plant. These have undoubtedly positioned it to operate effectively and efficiently in the Road management Sector and to deliver qualitative service to the citizens of Ondo State.
OSAC's success in road development and management is also hinged upon its work methodology and the establishment of various departments. In with the State Goverment's socio-economic development policies and working within available funds, OSAC is now adopting a Direct Labour approach in its operations. This cost-saving strategy to achieve more with fewer funds. Direct Labour additionally promotes empowerment through utilisation of local content skills; it reduces unemployment and creates wealth in the communities. The impact on the local economy is evident in the improvement in the household incomes and a general boost in economic and commercial activities. Of course, the broader picture of positive returns in terms of peace and harmony in the State, are also part of the high gains archieved through this development model.
The Agency's operations are fully supported by the departments of Finance, Administration, Security, Transport and Workshop. Headed by key management staff, each of these departments provides a structure which ensures an efficient and effective delivery of service.
OSAC's execution of road projects is exemplified by the recent construction of the Igbotu- Oboro- Inikorogha Road in Ese-Odo Local Goverment Area. The road is part of a wider plan to construct and manage an extensive road network to enhance the overall devlopment agenda of the State Government.
