You may wonder: Priest? Skeptical Christian? How do these two relate?

I am not skeptical as in unbelieving or disbelieving or cynical about the faith per se. I am, however, skeptical and critical about the way Christianity has been interpreted and presented throughout the ages. I struggle with dogma and doctrine that is preached, taught, and defended for the sake of doctrine and dogma and the Institution.

I am profoundly passionate about deepening the inward journey with God.

I am equally passionate about how the inward is reflected in our outward actions.

For me, this is where the Christian life begins. Do not say that you love Jesus; show it.

I am one surprised by my own spiritual journey from Calvinist roots and Quaker influences to ordination in a catholic tradition.

I am a critical, progressive Christian.
