Linda Lautrec
East Coast
Linda has written, produced, directed and edited numerous films for all markets. In fact, her cult classic film, "My Breakfast with Blassie" starring Andy Kaufman and Freddy Blassie launched Rhino Video. While she loves film-making, she enjoys writing, tinkering with the latest technology, art and music. A longtime fan of multicultural music and cultures, she hosts a web radio show, "Rant'N'Roll" where she features a diverse mix of music. She uses grooveshark to host several playlists when she is not hosting her show: http://grooveshark.com/#!/user/LadyLinda/18601877/playlists When she is not teaching English, she is creating, producing, directing and editing films, hosting her show, revising her collection of short stories Psoriasis for Lovers or her memoir about Hollywood exploits (Free Tank of Gas) she is busy writing film reviews for the Journalists' Hub with her own brand of wit. Her recent projects include an updated version of her 911 film which has exclusive interviews never before aired, and her new film, "Old...in America," a documentary that examines the way in which the concept of "age" is reflected in our society....some humorous, others reflect a sad commentary on the way in which (and at what age) the elderly are viewed. This past summer, Linda traveled to Europe on a PSC Cuny travel grant to explore collaborative projects with London, as well as take a digital story workshop in Paris where she revisited the apartment in which she lived when she attended the Sorbonne Nouvelle. The experience was exhilerating except that the apartment that she so fondly remembered had become a hair salon. Rather than witness someone have her hair permed, Linda chose to take more photographs for her story. The memories of gauloise smoke filled cafes and gigantic cups of coffee mixed with croissants were inspiring. She is now using the concept of digital stories to teach a Liberal Arts course that examines humanism, science and technology. Linda is especially excited about participaing in the Transom beta workshop. One "pet" project she is interested in creating is that of f a radio show, "The Wheel" in which the "spokes" are voices from different countries and cultures. Her goal is to make the world one with wit, humor and kindness!
