Linden Kemkaran

Kent, Great Britain

As the head of Linden Productions in Kent, Great Britain, producer and reporter Linden Kemkaran brings more than a decade of experience in broadcast journalism to her work, earning a number of notable achievements in her field. Since the formation of Linden Productions in 2008, she has maintained involvement in a vast array of independent media training, consultation, and journalism activities, running a popular journalism workshop in several area schools. In tandem with this work, Linden Kemkaran serves as a Script Adviser at WRG Creative Communication and freelance producer at Grosvenor TV. More recently, she signed a contract with BBC News, where she produces with the Future Planning Team. A budding novelist as well, Linden Kemkaran is writing News, Blues and High-Heeled Shoes, an inside look at a fictional newsroom, based in part on a 10-plus-year career with BBC News, where she held staff positions as a Reporter, Defence and Security Producer, and News Planner and Organiser.

Aside from her professional responsibilities, Linden Kemkaran maintains a busy schedule of personal activity and community involvement, promoting a strong sense of balance in her life. To this end, she volunteers her time and energy to fundraisers at her children’s primary school, and donates to various U.K.-based charities. Over the years, Linden Kemkaran has given to such worthy causes as Cancer Research UK, Redwings Horse Sanctuary, and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. An honours graduate of the University of Roehampton, Ms. Kemkaran holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, Drama, and Theatre.

In her free time, Linden Kemkaran practices the demanding art of Taekwon-do and aims to take her black belt grading in April 2013. Taekwon-do is of great importance to her, both physically and mentally; it requires a combination of strength, flexibility, fitness, memory and continual self-improvement. Ms. Kemkaran will soon be writing a blog "polymath mum," which will document her commitment to gaining her black belt and describe the challenges she faces along the way.
