There is an indescribable feeling in my heart that my purpose in life is to make a difference in the lives of others. So, I work every day with then intention to be closer towards my dream of becoming a pediatric surgeon.

Every time I have the privilege of shadowing in the operating room, my passion for medicine immensely grows. I am fascinated with the complex procedures done with such precision and delicacy, amidst stress and high intensity.

This summer, I had a life changing experience where I spent eight hours bouncing from surgery to surgery, with a first hand view of what I hope to be my future. In one day, I got to witness a C-section, numerous cosmetic operations, a spinal surgery, and a heart procedure. It was genuinely the most fulfilling day of my life. Having the opportunity to watch a newborn baby take their first breath in the world is something I will never forget. I knew in that moment, I was exactly where I was supposed to be.

My favorite Bible verse is Matthew 5:16, “Let your light shine before others”. My aspiration to be a physician is not merely a career choice with nice paychecks, but a calling that aligns with my passions and values. Healing the sick, fixing the broken, and making a difference in the lives of others is what I will strive to accomplish in my lifetime.
