I am a third-year B.Ed. student at the University of Johannesburg, majoring in Afrikaans and History. I am also an Afrikaans tutor at the University of Johannesburg. I pride myself in my academic work as well as my personal work of being a tutor which works hand in hand in my pursuit of making a career in teaching. I use the Inquiry-based learning strategy in almost all my classes I get the opportunity to teach as a student-teacher. This learning strategy helps me to engage with learners in a way where they feel comfortable enough to raise ideas freely in class and enjoy the learning process. I have also started my private tutoring business in March 2026 called Lindo’s Academy of Excellence where I tutor Afrikaans to school learners and anyone wanting to learn the language. All the private lessons are fully online where I use Google Meet to conduct the lessons. I showcase my teaching skills on some of my social media accounts such as TikTok. I get motivated to complete my teaching degree when I see people learning, especially from myself.
