Lindsay Schriftman

Higher Education Administration in Miami, Florida

I earned my Bachelor's degree at Oberlin College and began my library career as a student worker at Mudd. After college I worked in the travel industry for several years before returning to graduate school at the University of Pittsburgh and earning my Master's of Library and Information Science in 2004.

My first professional library job was as a solo librarian at Sanford Brown Institute. I then joined the library staff at Chatham University as Access Services and Electronic Resources Librarian. After moving to Florida in 2010 I was the librarian at Touro College South before joining Miami Dade College as the Associate Director of Learning Resources at the Homestead campus in April of 2012. In October of 2013 I was promoted to Campus Director of Learning Resources.

I love higher education, enjoy working with students and thinking creatively about academic support services. I think about the future of information access, libraries, and colleges a lot. I work to connect resources, technology, and people in productive and meaningful ways. I think research is fun.

I live with my husband Joshua Schriftman, a writer and English Composition Lecturer at the University of Miami. We have a daughter Clara, a hyper active dog named Elsa, and too many books.
