Lindsey Bowen

Hey y'all! My name is Lindsey Bowen and I love music. I have been singing ever since I could talk. I can remember walking down the halls in elementary school belting out, " AND BABY THERE, AINT NO MOUNTAIN HIGH ENOUGH," and the teacher telling me to be quiet and to use my "hush hush finger" or I would be sent to the office. I wasn't a bad student though. I just couldn't help myself. Music was in my DNA. When I was in the third grade, I started taking piano lessons and I took them up until my junior year of high school. I love the feeling of the keys beneath my fingers and the sound it produces when I press down a chord. However, I wouldn't say I'm a master pianist. I can't play anything fancy. What I mainly like to play on the piano is chords to accompany my singing. Singing has always been my favorite thing to do. When I was a freshman in high school, I took voice lessons for three years and absolutely loved it. Also when I was a freshman, I started singing in the praise band at my church and sang almost every Sunday until the day I moved to college. I absolutely loved being able to lead everyone in worship and hearing them sing along with me. There is nothing that makes my heart happier than that. Leaving that behind was by far the saddest moment I experienced after moving to college. However, I didn't leave music behind completely. I am very proud to say that I am now a member of the UGA Redcoat Marching Band! I have been playing trumpet since I was in the fifth grade and I am very blessed to still be able to be a part of a marching band in college. I am only a freshman and haven't even learned all of the songs yet, so I am very excited to see what the future holds. I love being a part of a group that cares about music just as much as I do. I may be a little biased, but of course being a part of the most talented, most musical, and finest marching band in the SEC is great too. Sorry to toot my own horn, but it's kind of what I do. I have also recently picked up learning to play the guitar. I am not very good yet and I don't know many chords, but I'm working on it. I am excited to see where my journey in music will continue to take me.
