Some ways I have helped clients include:

• Putting together a working business plan to use as a tool to drive the business in the direction that the owner wants and to keep them on track and focused on the important issues.
• Developing operational plans and implementing improvements to streamline the business, improve communications between management and employees and customers.
• Teaching business owners to understand the online environment... how it works, what to do, what not to do and how to do it. This involves a lot of hand-holding sometimes and encouragement. Many business owners lack confidence in the digital environment but are quite capable of learning when shown in a way they can understand and makes sense to them. Social media marketing - inbound marketing - is vital to business and few local business really know how to make the most of the opportunity to improve profits using new media.
• Personal goals and planning for executives - many young savvy managers are given responsibility over a team and often with little training and personal development around this important aspect of their duties. A mechanism to encourage them and give them feedback can do wonders to improve the skills of the manager and increase satisfaction and productivity with the whole team. This can be particular useful because of the 'outside perspective' that brings fresh eyes to the current situation.
