An active member of the New Jersey Big Data Alliance, LINDY RYAN teaches data analysis and business communication at Montclair State University and visual analytics at Rutgers University. She is an active researcher at the Rutgers Discovery Informatics Institute and was previously associate faculty at the School of Applied Leadership at CityU. Prior to joining academia, Ryan led research and analyst activities in data discovery and visual analytics for Radiant Advisors, an advisory firm in the data science industry. She remains a respected analyst in the data visualization community.

Ryan's research interests focus on using the power of data visualization and visual storytelling to communicate data-driven business insights. Committed to diversity, inclusion and STEM advocacy, Ryan also spends time on research related to increasing the participation of women in CS&E, understanding and preventing cyberbullying, and increasing visual data literacy skills in early STEM learners. She is a prolific speaker at industry and academic conferences worldwide, and is the author of “The Visual Imperative: Creating a Culture of Visual Discovery" and "Visual Data Storytelling with Tableau."
