Linford Sweeney
I am a practising Life Coach, Family Historian and writer of motivational and inspirational stories, quotes and poetry. As a Master Practitioner of NLP and Certified NLP & Life Coach, Mentor and Counsellor, I have been developing and delivering motivational programmes, such as 'Motivating Black Men' and 'Peaceful Consciousness', for the past five years. In addition, and for the past two years, I have been offering on-line coaching to people throughout the UK and abroad. My first book, 'At Peace With Myself', will be published at the end of 2011. It encourages the reader to use Positive Affirmations when facing some of the huge challenges that life brings to everyone each day. It will help people to identify and live their life's purpose, and therefore find a place of peace. The book came out of my own, sometimes painful, experiences of self-development. And as a Coach I have always used positive affirmations as an essential part of my work. It helps to develop the right mindset, acquire the necessary key skills, and take the appropriate actions to achieve long-held cherished dreams. The book is written as a weekly journal and activity log over fifty-two weeks, where each week the reader will be able to unlock another mysterious door to their true potential. For the past twenty years I have been researching my family history and now share my experiences by running Caribbean genealogy workshops and history classes throughout the UK, which also includes regular radio broadcasts. I am also a radio co-presenter on ALL FM 96.9 (www.allfm.org), and volunteer on Peace FM 90.1 (www.peacefm.co.uk). Both stations are based in Manchester, United Kingdom. I am currently writing a series of short historical stories, including for children, aimed at re-visiting Caribbean history with stories set during eighteenth and nineteenth century Jamaica. The aims are to re-educate people about those dark and brutal periods in our history, highlight the courage and passion for freedom shown by enslaved people, and the determination to make something out of nothing, which has led to the Caribbean that we see today.
