Faith Mirunde Hakala

Growing up in Kenya hearing my mother condemn the conventional methods that were coming up. She kept saying: How shall we sustain ourselves? My God! This woman could say how consuming powdered milk, refined and canned feed stuffs, sugar, using chemical based fertilizers, artificial food additives, toothpastes, spraying insecticides, pesticides herbicides were unhealthy, she gave practical examples, on and on,her tirade had an effect on me. I never drank soda i carried one litre of diluted juice to a boarding school which lasted three months! I ate no biscuits, brushed my teeth with soda ash/salt,used lemon to freshen my breath. I studied more on this issues. Went on to negatively and positively criticize them.It must have been at this juncture that my ideas were born.Oh my mother! Little did I know that she was shaping me into a person capable of making informed choices!I debated, wrote essays and compositions and joined Models of the United Nations (MUN) until I left for Europe with the same connections. Many at times, my ideas get me into trouble with my peers and my mother, I come out as controversial. I have however decided to turn my ideas into Gold-SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT. I take myself as being in the latest jargon: THINKING BEYOND THE FENCE. I am ready to pace the full journey into the future in helping myself and other people in meeting the present needs without jeopardizing the viability& ability of future generations.

Qualified to study Medical Laboratory i did it for a while. Later started to debate on the effects of chemicals involved, which had evidently caused lots of allergic reactions to others and me, against my mother's wish, I did Journalism, majoring in Human Rights and Eco-Journalism. Being a Kenyan, I joined The Greenbelt Movement,Organizations that broke the silence about violence against women. Not getting any support from my family because my choice (to them)was wrong. Finally, I came to Finland and did Refugee Migration Studies. Where i found myself. I am now pursuing International Relations at DCU. .I am the CEO of 1Golden World. Pace with me into a better future. PLEASE MAY WE, is my slogan. We-BEYOND THE FENCE THINKERS not for sake of Public Relations, rather, for practical implementation.
