Artist Statement 2015

"Creating art for me is a means of personal expression, activism, storytelling & therapy; where I am able to use art as my voice. MiXeD MeDiA MaYheM refers to my conception and process of blending & balancing acrylic paint, oil pastel, water color, charcoal, recycled material, poetry, found imagery & other mediums together to create depth, vivid imagery & provoking content. I Utilize my canvas as a platform of speech whereby I am able to invite or initiate Thought, Conversation, Change, or Effect in oTherS. If at any degree, a single work of art accomplishes this in just one individual ; I have successfully completed what I believe is my job as a 21st century artist today." ~ Lisa Deneka
