We are the Erwin family. Jay, is a paramedic/firefighter and I am a legal assistant. We have two sons, Trey and Collin. In March 2012, our oldest son, Trey, age 15, was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic adenocarcenoma. He fought a tough battle, with faith, for four months and went to be with the Lord on July 5, 2012. Collin will be 17 on July 20 and we are still learning to live as a family of three as I update this bio. We still struggle to find the New Normal. I pray this blog will encourage others, like our family, to find hope in the Lord during trials and know that God is always near.

We walk daily in prayer that God will hold us close as Collin is a patient at St. Jude. Shortly after Trey was diagnosed, we found out that Trey carried a mutant melanoma gene that was passed down. After Trey passed, we had Collin tested and he tested positive for the gene (CA19-9). Collin is watch closely by St. Jude with routine screening (MRI, endoscopy, blood work, but nothing with radiation). As we watch Collin grow, our prayer is that this gene will NEVER manifest itself as any form of cancer. We are very blessed to have St. Jude in our backyard.
