Lisa Palombo

Amherst, Massachusetts, United States

Lisa Palombo is a student pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree at the Isenberg School of Management. Her interests lie deeply in the realm of marketing and she has an undying passion for leadership.

When Lisa was just two years old, she developed her first true passion: dance. Dance became a means of escape, a creative outlet for Lisa. She grew immensely as a dancer, competing, choreographing and eventually teaching. Beginning as an assistant dance instructor, Lisa learned the logistics of being a mentor and role model to aspiring young dancers. In 2010, Lisa began a recreational program for children who expressed interest in dancing, just not at the elite level due to commitment and expenses. It was eight weeks long, once a week and had a small performance at the end. This program is still ongoing today and has seen enormous success.

As Lisa transitioned into college, she wanted to continue her passion for dancing. She auditioned for various teams on campus and became a member of UMass Stage Crew Dance Team. She became extremely involved with the team's events and practices and offered much creative input. This past year, Lisa was elected Captain of the team and is now more devoted and dedicated than ever. Gaining this leadership position has inspired Lisa to promote team bonding, encourage involvement of all team members and initiate performances. One major objective that she has focused on is social media awareness. In fact, the SCDT web page has gone from 50 likes to 386 likes in the last two months...incredible!

Through her passion of dance, Lisa discovered her passion for leadership. This devotion to leadership led her to acquire a position as a teaching assistant within the Isenberg School of Management for a course titled "Transitions." In this course, Lisa prepares and delivers fifty minute lesson plans once a week surrounding business etiquette, resume building and skills that will ensure students' professional success.

Through her internship with TJX, Lisa confirmed her interest in becoming part of a company that fosters teamwork. She mastered the skill of analyzing data and drawing conclusions. In fact, she implemented a dual-sizing technique on dress shirts for major companies such as Michael Kors, Calvin Klein and Van Heusen.

She aspires to one day work for an ad agency where she feels her expertise will be most effectively implemented.
