Newton, Mississippi

I grew up in the Forest, Ringold, Lake area. I moved to Newton County in 1989 and still here! I am a single parent of a son, Brooks and daughter, Madison. I am a very dedicated mother to both my children and attend everything they do if at all possible. I have been very active in Newton and was elected Woman of the Year in 2008 by the Newton Chamber of Commerce. I served on Newton's Chamber of Commerce Board from 2006-2012, was Vice President of the board 2011-2012, served on Friends of CMRC Board since 2007, been involved with Relay for Life since 2006, Newton's United Givers Fund Chairperson for 2007 & 2008, Lions Club member and serve on the board for Historia House of Hope. I am also actively involved with Newton County Academy in Decatur. I was a Dean's List graduate of ECCC in May 2011 with an AAS Degree in Computer Networking. While at EC I was a member of PTK honor society, PBL and Who's Who. I worked for the local newspaper from 2004-2012. I began a career in banking in April 2012 and I am enjoying it so far. My role model was always my grandmother, Ruth Usry. She would do anything for anybody and was always trying to help somebody with something. She was always a hard working woman and pushed herself to the limit and was well known for that. That's just the kind of person I am and what makes me the person I am today!
