Lisa Wilson

Prior to joining UCT, Lisa worked as a senior lecturer in contemporary dance, and was head of the dance education department and acting director of the dance school, at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts School of Dance in Kingston, Jamaica, where she had been a lecturer since 2002.

Lisa Wilson is a versatile dance artist-educator with over 15 years professional experience in the performing arts. As a dance performer,choreographer ( in jazz, contemporary, lyrical, Afro-Caribbean style and creative dance) and educator, she has taken Jamaican and Caribbean arts and culture to studios, classrooms, festivals and conferences all over the world (Europe, Australia, the Pacific Islands, Malaysia, Singapore, Israel, Africa and North America). She also performs and choreographs for both the private and public sectors in Jamaica. She is an active member of the dance faculty of the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts in Kingston, Jamaica and also directs her arts organisation, ARTS STREAMS. Arts Streams' mission is to provide individuals of all ages and abilities with high quality performing arts experiences through training, creative productions and interactions with professional artists. Wilson considers herself to be an ambassador and advocate for the arts, especially dance, as respectable and worthy vocations in the Caribbean. As such her work reflects professionalism, integrity, creativity and entrepreneurship.
