As an academic life coach, I work alongside young adults, helping them discover the best versions of themselves. Using life coaching skills adapted for middle and high school students, I work with them on setting and reaching their goals, communication, de-stressing, organization, and leadership.
So often student success is undermined by peer pressure and academic stress. I saw these stresses daily as owner and program director of, first, a learning center and, later, an art school. Often students would come to class early or stay after “just to talk.” They knew I was listening and shared many of their concerns about school and home. I realized then that I connect well with teens and enjoy helping them address their problems while encouraging them to recognize their strengths and passions. I also have three teenage daughters of my own.
I’ve been a mentor and coach at IMANI (Improving Montclair Achievement Network Initiative), assisting students with the college application process. I trained at the Coaches Training Institute (CTI) and Academic Life Coaching, Inc., and my focus is on teaching young adults to enjoy and appreciate who they are while strengthening and supporting their academic activities. I also assist parents in better understanding their children’s learning styles and core motivations.
A graduate of Cornell University, I’ve owned and managed several businesses, including a Kumon Math franchise (Montclair, NJ), the Nandi School of Art and Gallery and the Nandi Summer Camp (Montclair).
I work face-to-face, by phone or via Skype. Please email me at [email protected] for more information or call (973) 476-5616.
