Hire me

My name is Lisa Drost and I am a Licensed Dietician Nutritionist. I’m board certified as a Certified Nutrition Specialist®, which is the gold standard for advanced nutrition professionals. I also have a medical doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine.** I grew up in the Chicago area, and graduated from U of Illinois with a degree in Finance. I spent 10 years working around the U.S. in sales; selling commercial alarms, surgical instruments and retail vitamin supplements before I decided to shift my career path towards my passion. For many years, I struggled with acne. After traditional medicine failed to help me, I began looking for alternative ways to heal myself. Thus began my love and interest of alternative medicine- specifically botanicals and nutrition. I went to four years of medical school in Seattle and returned to the Chicago area to practice Nutrition in 2003.

I have always been attracted to food and cooking. I was fortunate to learn to cook watching my grandmother make traditional meals, and since then I’ve travelled around the world, learning to cook many ethnic cuisines. I find I am happiest when I am in the kitchen, preparing dishes for friends and family. I am privileged to make my living doing what I love, teaching people how to eat the right way for their bodies through education and hands-on.

In my free time, I love to garden, read mysteries and historical fiction, travel and play in the kitchen (experimenting, preserving, fermenting). I am the lucky mom of a teenage daughter and spend every minute I can with her. I am a novice beekeeper and am currently working on my first book, which will include local and seasonal menus and recipes.

I currently practice in Illinois and virtually. I offer personal nutrition consultations, hands on cooking classes, pantry makeovers, grocery store tours and detox classes. Please contact me at 630-871-8100 to find out how we can work together.

**Please note - the State of Illinois does not license Naturopathic Doctors, therefore, I cannot practice as a doctor in the State of Illinois, although I have earned my doctorate. In 22 other U.S. states, my medical education and degree allows me to practice as a primary care doctor, and I currently hold a license as a Naturopathic Doctor in New Hampshire.
