Dr Lisa Garwood-Cross

Research Fellow in Digital Health in Manchester, England

Dr Lisa Garwood-Cross is a Research Fellow in Digital Health at the University of Salford, Manchester. Lisa’s work focuses on
the intersections between social media, digital health and society, and she specialises in the use of digital methods and analysis of large-scale social media datasets, alongside qualitative research methods.

Lisa's primary research interest is the role of social media influencers as health influencers, and her PhD explored influencers role in sex edutainment on YouTube.

In addition Lisa has worked on a number of digital health projects including creating the Online Mammography Network, project managing the development of an augmented reality app for Nasogastric tube placement training, the UKRI funded COVID Sex Lives research, and the Kidney Information Network. Lisa has collaborated with a variety of external stakeholders including the Northern Care Alliance, Kidney Care UK, the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership, Health Education England and the National Breast Imaging Academy.
