Lisa Kaplowitz

Lisa Kaplowitz was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and raised in Toms River, New Jersey. Her first contact with the arts was in high school, where she was introduced to the darkroom. Lisa received her BA in visual arts at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. During Lisa’s undergraduate studies, her most meaningful work were the photographs of her grandmother, a Holocaust survivor. In an attempt to further understand her familial roots and emphasize the meaning of her images, she obtained a double minor in Holocaust Studies and Jewish Studies. In May 2009, Lisa received her MFA from University of Miami. She was awarded Outstanding Teaching Assistant 2008-2009 and after graduating was an instructor of Photography at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. Her work was recently on display at The Noyes Museum of Art in Oceanville, NJ (October 2009 – February 2010) and can be seen in Photographer's Forum Magazine May/Summer 2009 issue. In December 2008, she won The Miami Herald's Art Basel Contest. Lisa resides in New Jersey and her current projects include; Merchants and Just Another Day.
