Lisa E. Leon
A formerly incarcerated woman who is now living a productive life in society and has dedted her life to giving back to her community by advocating on behalf of her peers. She is a former resident of “A New Way of Life Reentry Project” in Los Angeles, California a program receiving women from jails and prisons. As she moved toward a more progressive and healthy lifestyle she went back to A New Way of Life as a volunteer and soon after started her work as a Community Organizer. She is a member of several coalitions, an Alumni of the California Womens Policy Institutes, a writer, author, and student. She participated in an the “Black Caucus Foundation’s”, Advocacy in Action program, a community health training program geared at substantial alignment in communities struggling with overall health disparities. Her desire is to help break the cycle of entrapment through support and advocacy improving the quality of life. Lisa is now writing her first book which tells of her struggles on Drugs and Alcohol, in motherhood, the PIC (Prison Industrial Complex), she is an Evangelist called by God, an Ordained Minister teaching the word of God. She is the mother of nine children and nine grandchildren and the wife of Deacon, Lonnie J. Leon a man of God who is her most faithful friend and supporter. He is a lover of the Lord and a true man after God’s own heart. Lisa is a graduate of RCC in Riverside, CA with an AA Degree in Liberal Arts. She is working on her BA in Psychology with a Mental Health Analyst Concentration. She is now the Executive Director of the “Women in Transition Reentry Project in Victorville and in Las Vegas Nevada where women and children are struggling to get past the oppression strongly recognized but tragically ignored in San Bernardino and Clark County. She has now partnered with Michelle Jackson to create an innovative program call WIT G. Principles Housing Program helping people gain access to recovery and housing. Together Michelle and Lisa have created the Las Vegas Re-entry Round Table, a coalition of collaborating organizations who's focus is to help people who have been displaced reintegrate back into society in healthy and satisfying ways. Together they fight to build a better community by setting goals to enhance safety and security for everyone.
