Lisa McVey

Southeastern Pennsylvania

Lisa is a PR strategist, communications expert, and storyteller who helps inform, engage, and persuade audiences.

She has worked as a newspaper reporter and freelance magazine writer, managed communications and PR for two public school districts, and most recently led marketing and communications for a K-12 food service management company and global fresh produce and floral association.

Lisa’s work has been published in The Philadelphia Inquirer, Wilmington News Journal, Delaware Today magazine, Out and About magazine, many local newspapers, Ceramics Monthly magazine, as well as numerous company publications, blogs, websites, and digital media outlets that cover the global fresh produce, floral, and food service industries.

Former Journalist; Forever Storyteller

As a former journalist, she is a great marketer. Why? She is a keen observer and good listener. She asks the right questions, finds connections, and can transform the facts that include who, what, when, where, why and how into a compelling piece that moves, motivates, or creates a mood.

Lisa served as a writer on a nuclear emergency response team, took a mascot training course (and did stints as Clifford and Curious George), wrote speeches for corporate executives, has convinced residents to vote for tax increases to support school construction and operations, and has pitched and placed hundreds of stories in the media, industry and trade press.

She has been a company and school district spokesperson, handling countless interviews for print, radio, and television. Her media relations experience includes responding to the press about power outages following a blizzard, extended deep freeze, and flooding.

She has also handled press inquiries about a school roof collapse, bus accident, and weapons in schools. Once, she responded to a press call about flooding in a school bus yard while she was stranded herself trying to get in to work.

Making Connections with Audiences

While Lisa is adept at crisis response, her first love is sharing the good news and engaging audiences through content marketing, PR, and integrated communications plans. She is hands-on, and uses tactics that elicit emotional connections, including pride, loyalty, empathy, and humor.

She thrives on using storytelling to strengthen brands, engage customers, highlight people and programs, and promote products, services, and experiences.
