I have been passionate about helping people author their life stories since becoming a counselor in 1996. I was privileged to work, learn, and grow at the University of Florida for seven years before becoming the Director of Career Services at the University of Colorado Boulder where I've been for the past ten amazing years. In addition to my role in Career Services, I also serve as Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs. I've earned a psychology degree from Indiana University and degrees in Counselor Education including my PhD from the University of Florida. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado.

I have had the amazing opportunity to work with wonderful authors on two very different books: Making Career Decisions that Count with Darrell Luzzo and Turning Points: Managing Career Transitions with Meaning and Purpose with Jack and Phoebe Ballard. I've also contributed to the Encyclopedia of Counseling, the Counselor's Guide to Career Assessment Instruments, and Rentz’s Student Affairs Practice in Higher Education. My work has also been published in the Career Development Quarterly, the Journal of College Student Development and the Journal of College Counseling.

My professional home is the National Career Development Association (NCDA) where I have been on the board since 2011 and will become NCDA President beginning in October of 2013. In 2010, I became an NCDA Fellow and was honored with both the NCDA Merit and Presidential Awards in 2008. NCDA is a founding division of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and has proudly been serving the needs of career development professionals for the past 100 years.

I recognize how lucky I am to be working in a job that keeps me excited and stimulated with people I truly love making a difference every day. That success is firmly grounded in my supportive family and the appreciation for education that has always been a part of our lives.
