What is this Programme?

The Business Computing Certificate programme aims to give students a foundation in both business modules and practical business related information technology, thus equipping graduates with the necessary skills to commence working in a modern business environment.

It aims to offer the chance for mature and non-traditional learners in the Clare region to pursue a recognised third level qualification. It is run by LIT and delivered by LIT lecturers.

Who can apply?

The programme is open to all students aged 18 and over. Mature students (aged 23 or over) do not require a leaving certificate. Those aged 18-22 must have grade OD3 or higher in 5 leaving certificate subjects, including maths and Irish or English.

What will I study?

Modules studied will cover core business functions and key information and communications technology applications. These include Business Law, Financial Management, Interpersonal skills, Programming, Marketing, Economics and Databases.

Duration

This is a two year full-time level 6 programme which runs from September 2012 until May 2014.

Classes may run between 9:30am and 4pm Monday to Friday.

What can I do when I graduate?

After completing the level 6 certificate, students may continue with the programme on the Limerick campus, to achieve a level 7 or level 8 award.

You may also commence work in a variety of business/IT roles such as Business Administration, IT Support, Finance, Teaching, Customer Service, Marketing, Project Management
