Dr. L Shanthakumari Sunder (Shanthi)

Dr. L. Shanthakumari Sunder (Shanthi) is an Officer belonging to the premier civil Service in India, Indian Administrative Service (IAS), served in Karnataka.

She superannuated in July 2009, as Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner, Government of Karnataka. She has vast administrative experience.

Shanthi Sunder was born in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu, India. She has M.SC in Zoology from Presidency College, Madras and thereafter acquired Masters in Social Sciences from Birmingham University, UK; MA in Economics, Mysore Open University, and PhD in the Christian Studies, University of Mysore, Karnataka.

Her thesis has been published as a book by Sage Publications in 2011, under the title, ‘Values and Influence of Religion in Public Administration.’

A keen student of Theology, Shanthi Sunder has passed her M.A in Divinity from Union Biblical Seminary, Pune.

Shanthi Sunder attends Koramangala Methodist Church (KMC) and is leading the Bible study for the Neighbourhood Fellowship Group (NFG).

She is a the Lay Preacher for her church and an international faculty of Haggai Institute of Leadership Training, Maui, Hawaii.

She is interested in outdoor activities and has done rock climbing in Utterkasi, white water rafting in Ganges, horse riding, and Basic course in Mountaineering from Darjeeling.

Her present interests include bird watching, painting, reading, writing and swimming. Dr. Shanthi lives in Bangalore, India. Her son Shawn R. Devaraj an automotive Engineer, is settled in America.
