The Team at Little Readers' Nook
Shivaji Park, Dadar West, Mumbai
Devaki Bhujang Gajare, an Electronics Engineer from Mumbai, worked as a Software Analyst in Pune and New York from 2004 to 2011.
Life changed in 2010 with the birth of Mihir - the inspiration behind Little Readers' Nook - and a return to hometown, Mumbai. In her new role as stay-at-home mom, Devaki would try and take some time out to indulge her passion for reading. Seeing her read, Mihir would want a book too. Thus began the search for quality children's books. And a new love affair with books began - this time, with Children's Books!
With little Mihir in tow, Devaki scoured the city. Quality children's books were available, but were often expensive and difficult to find. Besides, Mihir fast outgrew his collection at home. She tried library books, but their quality was far from perfect. The hunt continued!
Meanwhile, Mihir's fascination with books grew. Friends would ask, 'Isn't he too young for books'? 'It's never too early to begin reading!', Devaki would reply. And then the thought struck!
Why not - Little Readers' Nook?
Brains develop at an astonishing rate in the first 5 years of life. Reading aloud to preschoolers and showing them picture books improves concentration, teaches them about the world and helps their brain forge new connections. Encouraging kindergarteners & early graders to read helps develop their imagination, improves vocabulary and language skills and teaches them empathy.
The early years are thus critical to developing a lifelong love of reading and learning. Hence - Little Readers' Nook!
