Little Smash Comedy was founded by Comedian and Promoter Ross McGrane, who has literally been into comedy his whole life. A passion ignited by his Dad Smashy, Ross aka Little Smash tells his story: -

I’m Ross McGrane, and I’ve worked on and off in the comedy industry for over 10 years. My first event was put together as part of a business project at school, where I studied GNVQ Business Studies. With help from my then comedy promoter Dad, I booked Lee Hurst, Mickey Flanagan and Greg Burns to appear at a local theatre.

The event was a huge success and made a nice profit for a 15 year old, I bought a playstation and everything was right with the world.

My Dad, Mick McGrane (Smashy) – had been a hugely successful comedy promoter in his own right for many years whilst I was growing up. He brought the likes of Lee Evans, Harry Hill, Omid Djallili, Ed Byrne, Jo Brand (the list is endless), to the humble Southend (Essex) stage that was Churchills Comedy Cafe.

So where did Little Smash come form? At a fancy dress night my Dad dressed as Smashy from the Harry Enfeild sketch ‘Smashy & Nicey’ – with his mean impression, the name stuck.

From that point on, 99% of comedians and industry people knew him exclusively as Smashy or Smash for short.

Fast forward 5 years, I’m around 12 – it’s a Saturday afternoon – the phone rings – I answer: Jo Brand’s voice says “Is that Little Smash?”

And so it began….

The minute I left school I set up my first comedy club with my Dad and close friend Matt Addlington - Funny Bunnys. I have since run numerous events all over the UK and abroad.

In the last two years I took to the stage myself (not just to save a few quid on MC’s…) and have found myself supporting Russell Kane on various tour dates and sharing the stage with the likes of Sean Walsh, Lee Mack and my old favourite Jo Brand.
