Hello! Welcome to my blog! My name is Jamie and I am a 33 year-old stay at home mom and wife with two children, John 4 and Maddie 3. I LOVE being inspired reading other fitness blogs and reading about their journeys so I decided what the heck - I am going to write about my own healthy living lifestyle - or transition I should say. As we all know you can't change your lifestyle overnight. Long story short - I was a junk food addict who seldomly exercised. It was not until the birth of my second child (almost 4 years ago) that I started paying attention to my body and what I was putting into it. After Madeline was born I became a stay at home mom and wasn't really sure about my new 'place' in the family. It was an adjustment to say the least. The first two months I was home I was depressed. I gained 50 pounds while being pregnant, had a newborn baby, a 17 month old son and now had the responsibility of taking care of the house and all the meals my family would consume! I know some people would call this a blessing, and it sure is, but at that time it was overwhelming especially because I was miserable about myself. I loved being a mother and was so fortunate to be able to raise my children but at the same time I was really torn about not 'doing something'. I knew I had to make a change. Fast. I said - eff it - and signed up for my first half marathon six months after Maddie was born. I had not run in over a year and the longest I ever ran was 3 miles! Completing my first half marathon was a great accomplishment for me and it felt so rewarding. After the half marathon I became a much stronger person (mentally and physically) and it made me want more. I knew it was the beginning of a new healthy life for myself and for my family.
Since then, I have been a yo-yo dieter and a yo-yo exerciser. I can tell you I am at the top of my game when I am 2 weeks into a workout and eating clean routine and I am at my bottom when I fall off the wagon three days in. It is not fun but it is life. I have been on many different eating plans, workout plans, have lost 15 pounds, gained 15 pounds and the list can go on. I love working out but REALLY struggle with nutrition. Right now I am somewhere in between ready to give it 100%. I have learned so many things about myself and my body in the past few years that I am finally learning how to balance all aspects of my life. I am dedicated to a healthy lifestyle because I know when I am -
