Liza Sawyer Mendes

I'm a 1st grade teacher, at Costano Elementary School in East Palo Alto, with an insatiable love of learning. My teaching is heavily influenced by my love of science and the creatives arts. Working with a low-income, high-need population is not only a labor of love but also an act of social justice. I am creating this About.me not because its just another fun, techie tool (which it is...) but because I believe that it is important for educators to create a digital presence. As teachers we have a wealth of knowledge to share... and what better way to do it than online, where we can reach a wider audience. It's about time that the world take our knowledge and professionalism seriously!
