Entrepreneurial-minded Foundation leader with 20+ years of achievement in designing strategy to achieve vision. Heartbeat is driven by a belief that solid research and passionate people will result in creating cost-effective programs and big-minded policies.
Liza is committed to expanding the conversation about educational inequities as the primary driver of income inequality. It’s up to us to make education a civil right for everyone. Under Liza’s leadership, the Foundation is leveraging the power of competition to bridge those gaps, as 109 teams from around the world are racing to win the $7M Barbara Bush Foundation Adult Literacy XPRIZE. Teams are developing mobile apps—to be delivered at no cost—that will teach low-literate adults to read or learn English. A firm believer in the power of two-generation (2Gen) programs for parents and their children, Liza is proud of the more than 200 donor-supported family literacy programs funded by the Barbara Bush Foundation in some of America's neediest communities.
