Liza Wright

Liza graduated from Richmont Graduate University with a MA in Marriage and Family therapy with a specialization in Christian Sex Therapy. She is currently pursing dual licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Counselor along with certification as a Christian Sex Therapist through ABCST. She previously attended Tennessee Technological University and received a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in music.

Liza's main focus is working with trauma & abuse, communication & conflict with couples and families, intimacy issues, and sexual identity. She also enjoys working with individuals, couples, and families through a variety of other concerns including loss and grief, attachment issues, life transitions, depression, stress, and anxiety. In addition she is Prepare/Enrich certified and strongly encourages pre-engagement counseling to couples considering marriage.

Her approach to counseling stems from a family systems perspective but also utilizes narrative, existential, solution focused, and expressive therapies. This eclectic model allows her to approach each client by recognizing their uniqueness; it enables the client to develop and meet personal goals while gaining greater self insight. For clients who would like to integrate their faith into this process, different than Christian counseling, it encourages individuals to wrestle with questions and cultivate their identity in God, in relationships, and in the world as a whole.

Liza practices at Richmont Graduate University and at Church of the Advent near Decatur.
