Elizabeth Ludington Heins
Liz Heins is a 2012 cum laude graduate of SUNY Buffalo Law School. She will finish a Master's in Urban Planning in December 2012.
Liz is the Editor-in-Chief Volume 18 of the Buffalo Human Rights Law Review, which is forthcoming, and was a Publications Editor for the Buffalo Law Review.
She spent summer 2011 in Pristina, Kosovo where she worked as a summer intern with the Rule of Law Project for the United Nations Development Programme. Summer 2010 she interned with the Monroe County District Attorney's office, and summer 2009 she was an intern for USA Niagara development agency.
Liz made the first place team for the Wechsler Moot Court intramural, and won third place in the brief-writing component of the 2010 Desmond Moot Court competition.
For an urban planning class, Liz helped write a community gardens plan for the city of Buffalo, which was adopted by the Buffalo Common Council.
A 2005 graduate of Taylor University, Liz taught English in China and worked as a paralegal before beginning her graduate studies. She has traveled to Nicaragua, Bolivia, and Russia for humanitarian and educational aid.
She hopes to work in international development and human rights law when she completes her studies in 2012.
Liz lives with her husband Alan in Rochester, New York.
