I am a social designer with degrees in industrial design and anthropology. I support healthy social connection via physical space, virtual space, and the junction between the two. From my perspective, design is the process of creation and destruction that makes way for the future of our world. The fundamentals of cultural evolution and human instinct are core to my approach.
I am additionally a grant writer, translator, and design writer. I funnel process, action, and intent into stories that beg to be told. Through detailed interviews and research, I merge with the mindset and voice of my clients. I specialize in written English for foreign design firms.
I am currently based in Providence, Rhode Island and am available for national and international engagement.
Pathway:
Anthropology + Latin American Studies + French Language @ University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. Master of Industrial Design @ Rhode Island School of Design. My journey has spanned publishing, radio, TV, photography, set design, interior design, landscape design, architecture, search engine evaluation, natural building, farming, permaculture, community living, and communications. I speak several languages and have extensive international experience.
Philosophy:
We are advanced animals who creatively respond to the pressures, inefficiencies, and challenges posed by our environment. We build upon the creations of our predecessors generation after generation. As our environment is increasingly shaped by human innovation, we must aim to do as fine a job as nature itself.
Curiositeuse, explorer, inquirer, creator, observer, seeker of openings into the unknown. I'm slipping down the river, brushing the mossy rocks with my toes.
In this ever-changing technological landscape, how can we maintain fulfilling connections with each other and the earth? We need each other, and we need the resources we get from the natural world. How can we stay human and protect our primary wellsprings in an increasingly tech-heavy world? What are we all collectively reaching for now.... and what will we be reaching for next?
I strive to connect people with the bedrocks of ancient knowledge, community, and wisdom in a time of constant shifts in our cultures, borders, and tools for living.
